Christina Hopkins, PhD is a licensed clinical psychologist specializing in the treatment of PTSD and other trauma-related disorders, such as dissociative disorders, CPTSD, and chronic stress.  She uses mindfulness- and exposure-based treatments for a variety of conditions such as anxiety, OCD, and management of chronic conditions. Dr. Hopkins specializes in Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), a new highly-effective treatment approach that focuses on building a valued and deeply meaningful life.

Dr. Hopkins received her PhD in Clinical Psychology from Duke University. She spent her graduate years developing and testing digital interventions to improve coping with weight-based discrimination and internalization of weight stigma using acceptance- and mindfulness-based principles. She then completed a year-long clinical internship at the University of Pennsylvania’s Center for Weight and Eating Disorders with a focus on health psychology. In addition to being highly trained in ACT, she has completed advanced training and certification courses for the treatment of trauma in Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT), Prolonged Exposure (PE), Exposure & Response Prevention (ERP), and Mindfulness-based CBT. Throughout her training and clinical experiences she has provided evidence-based psychotherapy and assessment services in a wide variety of contexts, including outpatient community clinics, medical hospitals, inpatient psychiatric units, academic medical centers, and bariatric surgery centers.

Dr. Hopkins has extensive experience teaching medical students, psychologists in training, nutritionists, and other health practitioners seeking expertise in trauma-informed care, health behavior change, and weight stigma. She brings an authentic, warm, direct, and collaborative style to the therapy room.

Dr. Hopkins spends her free time riding her bike through the city, lifting weights, sewing, or cooking an elaborate meal. Her ideal day would be spent in nature with a book, her husband and 9 year old Boston Terrier, Guster.
