FAQs

  • Can I do sessions virtually?

Yes. We offer either in-person or virtual sessions via HIPPA-compliant portals.

  • How long will I be in therapy?

The duration of therapy is different for each person, depending on their circumstances and the nature of their struggles. Sometimes therapy can be a brief intervention with a highly structured approach to solve a specific problem. Other times it is a more long-term experience that explores many aspects of a person’s life, both past and present. The right path for you will be discussed during the very first session with your therapist, and regularly reviewed with you to make sure therapy is serving your needs.

  • Can I use my insurance?

Psychologists at MLT are considered out-of-network providers by insurance companies, who will often reimburse a significant proportion of the session cost, depending on the client’s plan’s mental health benefits. Clients planning to request reimbursement from their insurance company should call their insurance company prior to their appointment to find out about any referral or authorization requirements. Following payment, MLT will provide receipts that have all the necessary information required by insurance companies for reimbursement directly back to the client.

  • Can I use my Health Care Savings Account (HSA) to pay for sessions?

Therapy clients can use their HSA. We can provide invoices that clients submit for direct payment via check to Main Line Therapy from your HSA. You cannot use an HSA card to pay for sessions.

  • What is the difference between Psychotherapy and Executive Coaching? Is there ever overlap?

Psychotherapy can take many forms and can be a different experience for everyone. For some it is a journey inward, with the goal of exploring oneself and gaining insight into one’s own thoughts, feelings and behaviors. For others it is more goal-directed, focused on addressing specific issues, healing past traumas, and enabling a person to overcome personal struggles to function more effectively in the world. Rather than give direct advice, psychologists use socratic questioning to guide the client towards a better understanding of themselves. Most clients report that therapy results in greater joy and contentment personally as they live a life grounded in meaning, purpose, and in accordance with their values. Many are delighted to find that these gains translate into their working lives.

Executive coaching tends to be more goal-directed and skills-based, and usually focuses on performance and relationships in the workplace. However, it is often the case that executives and professionals make connections between their experiences at work and their own personal histories. Developing better skills in the workplace may also require addressing personal issues or developing skills that are helpful in one’s personal life. In that way, coaching sometimes overlaps with therapy.
